SOUVENIRS
LAUNCH

May 19—21
Hen’s Teeth Studio
Dublin, Ireland

SOUVENIRS is Marina Esmeraldo’s first art book. With new original drawings, poetry and the occasional recipe, the book is a hardbound, limited edition artefact featuring a collection of her travel memoirs since childhood, reflecting on the themes of belonging, growing up, and the timeless relationship between culture and food.

Launching my book in one of the greatest literary cities in the world was pretty special. My friends at Hen’s Teeth Studio have been movers and shakers in Dublin for years now and it is always a pleasure to collaborate with them, so it was a no-brainer to celebrate the launch of SOUVENIRS together with a beautiful exhibition in their new gallery space.

As part of the weekend of events, I also gave a talk about the entire process of making this small press publication: from having the first kernel of inspiration, through the intense process of crowdfunding, to the joy of holding the finished artefact. I finished with a reading of one of the poems from the book, Fiesta, inspired by the island of Mallorca and the festivities of San Bartolomé.
